Obituary

J anet Ann Roderick , 71, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She was the youngest of 13 children born on January 4, 1949 in Marshfield, Massachusetts to the late Olivia (Sylvia) and Joseph Roderick. Janet graduated from Marshfield High School in 1967 and after graduation she attended Newbury School of Business in Boston.

Janet began her career at the Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate as an intern in the business office. She was eventually hired as a bookkeeper where she remained as an employee for 24 years. Prior to joining Life Care Center, she worked at Armstrong Industries in Braintree. For many years, Janet was an active member of St. John the Baptist Club in Carver, Massachusetts where she served as Secretary to the Club.

As a young woman, Janet paved her own way and lived her own life, but when family needed her, she was constantly there. She was a hard and devoted worker at every job she held. Her co-workers and employers, past and present, could always count on Janet to give her all at any task put before her. She never hesitated to give her family and friends care, love and time. Janet had always put family first and could be counted on to make any one of her delicious desserts when asked.

Janet enjoyed reading, playing board and card games and taking fun trips to casinos with family, friends and co-workers.

Janet leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Stacey (Roderick) Brooks, grandchildren Christopher and Kayla Brooks and Carlos Martino Marquez all of Norfolk, Virginia; brother, Kenneth (Carolyn) Roderick of Marshfield; sister-in-law Mary "Teia" Roderick (Frederick) of Hingham; and brother-in-law Charles Fernandes (Delores) of Dorchester; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Janet was predeceased by her siblings: John; Elizabeth; Rose Marie; Frederick; Juliet "JuJu"; Joseph "Moose"; Robert; Donald "Wayne" Roderick; Etelvina "Peggy" Gonsalves; Evelyn (Roderick) Mendes; and Delores (Roderick) Fernandes.

Due to current restrictions on social gatherings, the wake and burial will be private. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Christine's Parish, 1295 Main Street (Rt. 3A) in Marshfield on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 10:00 am.
