Obituary

Jay Michael Adler, age 69 of Marshfield, MA, died peacefully in his sleep at home on April 24, 2023, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Kathy Adler of Marshfield, son Alex (Jenn) Adler of Weymouth, stepson, Tony Bonadies of Weymouth, and sister, Alison (Ken) Meuser of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by his sister-in law, Linda Adler of Duxbury and niece, Kim (Bill) Curley and children, Jack, Caroline, and Andrew of Duxbury. Jay was the son of the late Francis C. Adler and Eleanor R. Adler, and the brother of the late Francis C. Adler.

Jay was born in Boston, MA, and graduated from Marshfield High School Class of 1971 where he was a three-year captain of the hockey team. He enjoyed playing golf and softball throughout his life. He attended Massasoit Community College before beginning a career in sales for various businesses on the South Shore.

Jay married Kathy June 24, 1989. Alex was born November 3, 1990, and many happy years followed for Kathy, Jay, Alex, and Tony. Jay coached baseball and supported Cub Scouts and Special Olympics. Jay took pride in his role helping to establish a neighborhood watch program with the Marshfield Police. More recently, Jay and family were excited to celebrate Alex's wedding to Jenn in Salem, MA last November. As a family, many happy trips and holidays were enjoyed.

Jay loved sports and was an avid Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox fan. He rarely missed watching football and golf on Sundays. He enjoyed fun filled years and special summers in Green Harbor with his family and many wonderful friends. Jay's fourth of July fireworks celebrations were the highlight of early summer culminating in the Labor Day Races. Jay was an active member of the Green Harbor Beach Association, having won many trophies as a child and becoming a sponsor in later life. He will be remembered for his huge smile, witticisms and sense of humor.

There are so many people who played important roles and/or showed kindnesses to Jay during his life including, dear cousin, Bill Adler, Mr. Hubbard, a favorite teacher, Suzanne and the staff at the Green Harbor branch of Coastal Heritage Bank, and Steven Vining who provided ongoing support as Jay's health was failing.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church in Ocean Bluff on Thursday, May 4* at 10:00 A.M.
