Jean M (Post) Hancock, 89, of Marshfield, Massachusetts died peacefully in her home on October 4, 2019 where she had been receiving loving and dedicated Hospice care. She was born in Cohoes, NY on August 20, 1930, grew up in Binghamton, NY and lived in Marshfield since 1973. Jean was married for 61 years to the love of her life, the late Carlyle (Hank) Hancock. She was a loving wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother.
Jean is survived by her son Mark Hancock and his wife Linda of Pembroke, NH; her son Grant Hancock of Marshfield and his companion Donna Thompson and her daughter Shawna Connor and her husband James of Marshfield. Jean enjoyed many special times with her grandchildren Melissa, Jeanne and her husband Geoff, Mark and his wife Kristen, Kevin, Derrick and his wife Abigail of New Hampshire and Joseph, Margaret, Sean and Michael of Marshfield as well as her great-grandchildren, Alex, Noah, Annabelle, Aaric and Bennett, and great great-granddaughter Isabella, all of NH. She is also survived by her loving niece and nephews.
Jean was an avid reader and movie lover, particularly of musicals. She was an exercise enthusiast and enjoyed walking, riding her bike and using her treadmill. She was a woman of deep religious faith and happily spent much of her free time reading Scripture and in prayer. Jean enjoyed volunteering her time in a variety of places over the years and was a good friend to those she served. She was extremely generous and shared what she had with many charities, particularly those helping women and children in need. Her happiest times were spent caring for her family in her home, she took great pride in being a homemaker, a wife and a mother.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St in Marshfield followed by burial in the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield. Arrangements have been handled by MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to My Brother's Keeper, PO Box 338, Easton, MA 02356-0338.
