Jeanne Marie (Clarke) Norton of Eastham passed away on February 13, 2023, at the age of 75. She leaves her husband of 51 years, John J. Norton, daughter Jessica, son-in-law Michael, and her beloved triplet granddaughters Ava, Emma, and Hannah. Mema to Dominic Oliver and Oliver Adkins, Jeanne also leaves nephews John Oliver & wife Cheryl, John Clarke, Kyle Norton, Gavin Norton, and Michael Smith, nieces Katherine Oliver, Meredith Clarke, Lacy Hinkle, her siblings George Clarke of Quincy and Charlene Carroll of Englewood Florida, and brother-in-law Kenneth Norton of Nantucket. Born in Quincy to the late John Clarke and Mary (Connolly) Carpenter, Jeanne is also predeceased by her sister Agnes Oliver, stepfather Bob Carpenter and stepbrother Robert Carpenter.
Jeanne and John settled in Carver before making Eastham their primary residence. After retiring as CFO of Cranberry Graphics and Printing, Jeanne and John were able to spend most of their time in the Spring, Summer, and Fall at their home in Eastham. Unlike your typical "snowbirds" they would then head north to Oak Point in Middleboro, where they enjoyed the company of their winter friends.
Jeanne loved being with her family on the beaches of Eastham. She loved spending time on her boat "Lucky 3's" and was a fabulous first mate. Her favorite times were cruising in the bay, hanging out at Jeremy's Point, driving the dunes of Provincetown, and visiting the harbors around Cape Cod Bay. Sunsets on Cape Cod Bay were her favorite. Every night she and John would walk up to the stairs to the beach to view the sunset. Each one was better than the next and she would capture them as photos on her phone. She had hundreds of photos of beautiful sunsets. She said it never got old and would always comment on how she was so lucky to have this view.
Jeanne's greatest love was for her family and her extended family. While Jessica was her only biological child, she was a mother "Meme" to many and eventually a grandmother "Mema" to many more. She could always be found on the sidelines of a field cheering her granddaughters on playing soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse. Later in life, Jeanne found a new passion for painting and more recently pen and ink. Her artwork was treasured by family, friends, and, more recently, people at craft fairs.
Jeanne enjoyed volunteering for the Pan Mass Challenge. She cherished working at the Lakeville water stop and Eastham family stop. She would fill your water bottle; get you ice and give out many hugs and large cheers.
Jeanne was young at heart and while she was starting to feel her age, she still tried to keep up with her grandkids. She was so very active and loved walking Salty in Eastham, gardening, and helping her husband with his projects around the house. She will be missed more than words can express.
