Mersch, Joan R. (Ellis), of Hingham, formerly of Holderness, NH, passed away on February 25, 2016 at the age of 84. Devoted mother of Mary and Robert Fraser of Marshfield and Francis and Wendy Mersch of Holderness, New Hampshire. Loving Grandmother of Sara, Robert, Jonathan, and Matthew Fraser and Connor and Tyler Mersch. Predeceased by a brother, Paul Ellis, and her former husband Francis B. Mersch.

Joan was born in Boston to the late Joseph and Alice "Ruth" (Kinsella) Ellis. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for many years at South Shore Hospital as well as South Shore VNA and Pemi-Baker Home Health. Joan spent her life caring for others. Joan loved animals, especially her Siamese cats, gardening, dancing, reading, and spending time with her precious grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield.
