Joan Twomey, 85 years old of Kingston, formerly of Duxbury, passed away from a brief illness on July 2, 2024.

Joan was born and raised in Brockton. She graduated from Brockton High in 1954 at the age of 16. She was a cheerleader and made lifelong friends on the Squad. After high school, she attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and was a whiz at shorthand. In 1960, she married happy-go-lucky Jack Twomey. In her words, "he was the only man she could have stayed married to". Joan and Jack raised their four children, Mary Jo, Kara, Patrick, and Matthew in Duxbury.

Joan was an active member of the Holy Family church in Duxbury and taught catechism. Joan enjoyed playing tennis on her court and hosted many high- spirited tennis matches. In 1980, she joined the Lottery as an executive secretary. She thrived in the high paced, energetic environment and loved her Lottery friends. She retired in 2006 at the age of 68 to focus on her golf game.

Joan and Jack were members of the Marshfield Country Club and enjoyed many rounds of golf. Joan was adored by her five grandchildren: Aidan, Meaghan, Jackie, Jake, and Michael. Joan will be remembered by her beautiful smile and her generosity.
