Joanne R. (DeMarco) Gilmore, a long-time resident of Duxbury, passed away on June 3, 2022 at the age of 81. Joanne was the beloved wife of Raymond Gilmore (aka Sean Casey) with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage last November. She leaves her children Chris Gilmore of Easton, his wife Diana and their children Joey, Ari, Juliana, Jason, and Jaclyn, Brian Gilmore of Duxbury, and Jodi Fitzgerald of Duxbury, her husband Drew, and their son Drew. She was predeceased by her grandson, Dante. Sister of the late Pasquale DeMarco and Angela Mileti, Joanne leaves two nephews Matthew and Michael, and a niece, Joanne.

Daughter of the late Louis and Rachel (Silverio) DeMarco, Joanne was born and raised in South Philadelphia. After a few stops in New Jersey, she called Duxbury home where she raised her family.

Joanne and her husband were part of a close-knit group of friends who enjoyed the beach, boating, vacationing and a 40-year tradition of Friday night dinners together. Beyond friends and family, Joanne had a passion for gardening. She was a long-time member of the garden club. Her own yard was a wonderful mixture of colorful flowers, shrubs and robust fruits and vegetables.

Joanne was a devoted wife, mother and "Mimi" who always put others ahead of herself. She will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street in Duxbury. Interment will be in the Mayflower Cemetery of Duxbury.
