Joanne K. (Kussy) Sampey, loving mother, grandmother and lifelong resident of the Boston area, passed quietly on October 23, 2022 after a years-long struggle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her son Joseph Brookfield and his fiancé Lee, her daughter Janelle Sampey, her brother Bob Kussy and his wife Linda and grandchildren A.J. Lopez, Olivia Bogan, and Michael Bogan. Joanne was predeceased by her daughter, Amy Sampey. She was the former wife of John Sampey.

Joanne was born in Boston to Walter and Josephine (Potapski) Kussy. She was proud to have been raised in the old West End. Joanne retired from the MBTA, a member of the Carmens Union Local 589. She enjoyed traveling to the Cape, Florida and Las Vegas. She had a sense of adventure that included skydiving.

Joanne was kind with a giving heart. She was a great listener and always willing to help a friend. She loved her dogs China, Gizmo, Simon and Panda. She loved and cherished her family and being in the company of those she cared for.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with Words of Remembrance at 5:00 p.m., at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
