Obituary

Joao "John" Pacheco,77, of Marshfield, MA formerly of Buzzards Bay and Bridgewater passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Sunday, May 4th, 2025.

Joao was born January 26, 1948 in Santa Maria, Portugal in the Azores to Jose Carvalho and Ana Soares. Then at the age of 12, he immigrated to Sao Paulo, Brasil with his family where he met his wife Ana Maria. In 1969, Joao came to the United States where he married Ana Maria in 1972 and later had their daughter, Sandra.

Joao was employed by the Henry Perkins Foundry in Bridgewater for 30 years until he became disabled due to polycystic kidney disease. In 2004, Joao received a kidney transplant from his "angel" Lorraine after years of dialysis giving him over 20 more years with his family and friends.

Although Joao struggled with his health, he remained positive and never complained. He made the most of his good days by doing things he loved like camping, fishing and traveling, especially cruising with his 'angel' Lorraine and her family. Joao loved to spend time with his loved ones making memories to last a lifetime. Joao's favorite pastime in the past few years, was attending his precious grandson Timothy's sporting events whenever possible. Timothy was his greatest joy and Joao was his biggest cheerleader.

Joao is survived by his loving wife Ana Maria (Iannarilli) of 53 years, his daughter Sandra and her husband Joseph and their son Timothy also of Marshfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Etelvina Curvelo and brother Jose Carvalho. Joao is also survived by his brothers Manuel Carvalho and Mario Reis, sister Maria Leal as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joao valued family over everything and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Joao and his family were immensely grateful for the many years of fantastic care he received from his medical team, especially his PCP Dr. Stuart Klein, his cardiologist Dr. Robert Scarlatelli and transplant nephrologist Dr. Aditya Pawar and his RN Jamie. We will be forever grateful for their compassion and empathy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth, followed immediately with a Mass at 12:00 p.m., and concluding with a committal service and burial in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Joao's name to the National Kidney Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
