Obituary

John William Buckley, 89, died peacefully at home. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Paula Catherine, daughter Amy Meyer and her husband Robert of Easton, Pennsylvania; son Mark and his wife Rose of Germany; daughter Martha Young and her husband David of Randolph; and daughter Megan of Marshfield. John is also survived by his brother Robert and his wife Maureen of Marshfield and his sister Eleanor and her husband David Gilmore of Pembroke. He is predeceased by his brother David and sister, Sister Sarah Ann, S.N.D. John was a loving "Papa" to his eight grandchildren and a fantastic uncle to many nieces and nephews.

John was born in 1933 in Somerville to Robert and Eleanor Buckley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56.  He graduated from Boston University and Bridgewater State.  John was a schoolteacher for over 40 years in the Marshfield school system.  In the summers, he was a lifeguard on the beaches of Scituate. John was an avid gardener, a World War II history buff, a devout Catholic and a life-long Boston sports fan.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.
