Dalziel, John Ramsay "Jack", of Marshfield, formerly of Falmouth and Braintree, died on June 22, 2016 after a brief battle with Melanoma cancer. He was 80 years old. Devoted husband of Kathryn (Cleary) Dalziel. Loving dad to Kathryn Howie and her husband Ron of Kingston, Lisa Leahy and her husband Terence of North Attleboro, and John P. Dalziel and his wife Deborah of North Carolina. Cherished grandpa/bumpa to Elizabeth, Meghan, Allison, Sarah, John, Anne, Amanda, and Audrey, Jack leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born and raised in South Boston, Jack was affable, outgoing and fun loving. He wrote in his high school yearbook that his ambition was to be "Caretaker of Castle Island". It may have been the romantic notion of a Southie teenager but it contained a gem of prophecy, as Jack went on the become an Engineering Manager for the Boston Marine Industrial Park and later the Deputy Director of Operations at the Boston Redevelopment Authority. He continued working there for 40 years, under the watch of four Boston Mayors, until his death.
Prior to working for the BRA, Jack was the Vice President of BALCO, Inc. for many years. He served proudly as a Staff Sergeant for six years in the National Guard and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 17 for the past 45 years.
