On the morning of October 23rd, John E. Stanley passed peacefully into the arms of Our Lord and into the arms of his loving family who had preceded him in death. John was a loving, kind man who showed courageous strength in his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Anne, his son Sean and his loving wife Jenna. No matter how sick John was, Jenna would always bring a smile to his face and a big wave.
John was brother of Paul Stanley and his wife Helen, Cathy Buehner and her late husband Jim, the late Philip Stanley and his wife Joan, the late Joseph Stanley and his wife Estelle, and the late George Stanley. John is also survived by his cousin and good friend Jim Lane and many nephews and nieces.
John grew up in Dorchester and was a member of the of the McKeon Post and St Brendan's Parish. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan but he was most known for his culinary skills especially his Irish Bread and hamburg and noodles.
"Big John", as he was known in certain circles, was an honorary member of the Lunar Ave garage crew.
A special thank you to our longtime friends Dr. Steve Carr and his wife Kathleen. Dr Carr tendered to all John's medical needs and Kathleen brought laughter during the hard times.
The family would also like to thank Dr Liam Jette for his kindness and concern for John during his illness and his constant availability to the family for any questions or advice during John's battle with cancer.
John is sadly missed by his beloved dogs Scooter and Freddy and his grand dog Ruby Anne. They brought John great joy and comfort.
