John William White, born April 2, 1958, passed away peacefully at the Seasons Hospice in Milton MA on Monday, February 13, 2023 after a multi-year battle with cancer.

John was the beloved son of Theodore White and Una O'Hara White, now deceased, and the brother of Regina White Giambusso of Sandwich, Theodore White and his wife Catherine of Hingham, Christopher White of Orcutt, CA, Maureen White of Marshfield, and Gregory White and his wife Susan of Tucson, AZ.

John is also survived by three nephews, David Giambusso and his wife Caitlin Jennings of Jersey City, NJ, Theodore White and his wife Ashleigh of Goleta, CA, William White of Los Angeles, CA and a niece, Sarah White and her husband, Max Prigozhin of Winchester. Finally, John had the great joy of seeing two grand nieces, Violet White and Sophia Giambusso enter into the world before his passing from it.

John was a long time resident of Marshfield, attending the Marshfield Public Schools and later being employed as a staff member of the schools for many years. He had a life long love of the ocean beginning in his childhood during his family's month-long visits to Humarock each July. His favorite pass times were walking by the ocean in Brant Rock and stopping to read while sitting on the seawall.

John's habit was to focus on all the good things in life and relish the small pleasures of owning his own home and socializing with friends.

John's greatest enthusiasm was for spending time with his large family. He anxiously awaited the multiple family celebrations of birthdays and holidays where he was always ready with a compliment for his siblings, his nieces and nephews and even for the food served. John had a great zest for life and yet he managed to be gracious in facing its end.

Visiting hours will be held this Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
