Obituary

John Bradford Willis Sr. passed away on April 7, 2024, at the age of 93. He was the Beloved husband of Phyllis G. (Merrill) Willis, loving father of Robert Stephen Willis, David Christopher Willis, John Bradford Willis Jr. and his wife Dawn Sue Willis and their children Courtney Rose Willis, Ian Andrew Willis. Loving father of the late Kimberly Ann (Willis) Polvere. Dear brother of the late Barbara Elaine (Willis) Faust of North Carolina. Son of the late John Austin Willis and Edith Muriel (Archibald) Willis. Brad also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brad graduated from The Cambridge School, Class of 1947. He then attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture at Amherst, Massachusetts. When his parents moved from Dedham to Duxbury, he became a 4-H Club member. Then had a dairy farm in Duxbury for many years. Brad moved to Marshfield with his family and changed occupations. He worked for The Town of Marshfield Department of Schools as a custodian and retired after twenty-five years. Brad then went back to work at Star Market for another seventeen years. Brad was a member of The First Congregational Church of Marshfield for over sixty years. Brad also served as Sexton for several years and on many different committees.

Brad and his wife Phyllis represented The First Congregational Church of Marshfield on Sowing Seeds. They oversaw the Sowing Seeds Traffic Island in town and received an award for "The Most Inspirational Island" in 2004. Brad was a Marshfield Boy Scouts leader when his sons were growing up and had many campouts and trips over the years. Brad also enjoyed many summer vacations with his family in New Hampshire and Maine. He traveled to Pennsylvania and North Carolina to visit friends and family over the years.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday June 1, 2024, at 2 pm. at The First Congregational Church of Marshfield, located at 1981 Ocean St. In lieu of flowers we would like memorial donations to be given to The First Congregational Church of Marshfield, by mail to P.O. Box 826, Marshfield, MA 02050.
