Joseph Bartolo Bonica, age 91, a longtime resident of Marshfield, passed away peacefully at his home October 12, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  Survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rose (Coiro) Bonica.  Devoted father of Robert Bonica and his wife Janet of Scituate, Donna Bonica of Marshfield and Joseph Bonica and his wife Adele of Abbeville, MS.  Adored grandfather of Gregory, Kathryn and Sarah Bonica.

A graduate of Boys' High School in Brooklyn, NY, Joseph served 22 years in the United States Coast Guard, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3, and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Joseph served on the USCG Barataria in 1967/68 during Operation Market Time in South Vietnam.  After his service in the Coast Guard, Joseph taught at Shawsheen Valley Technical School and worked as facilities engineer for Beth Israel Hospital.  He loved his family, his country, his animals, and baseball.

A celebration of his life will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield on October 28, 2023 with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and a Funeral Service from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
