Joseph F. Carroll, Jr. of Marshfield, Massachusetts passed away on April 27, 2024, with his devoted wife of 55 years, Beverly, by his side.
Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, Joe was the son of the late Joseph F. Carroll and the late Eva (Ennis) Carroll. For the past five decades, Marshfield has been home to Joe and Bev. Over the years, it is the town where they have raised their children, managed a farm full of animals, and made many lifelong friends.
Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was very active in his younger years and loved the great outdoors, where he could often be found riding his horse and barrel racing at local events with Bev, skiing his favorite mountains in the Northeast and out West, tending to the family farm, and boating and scuba diving off the South Shore as well as in the warm waters of the Caribbean. No challenge or endeavor was ever too big or too much for Joe. He lived life to the fullest. A computer programmer by trade, he had his own business for a number of years and enjoyed keeping up with the latest trends in the industry.
In addition to his loving wife Beverly (Mullaney), Joe is survived by two children, Stephanie Lyons, and her husband Russ, of Marvin, North Carolina, and Timothy Carroll and his wife, Kate (Davis), of Upton, Massachusetts. Joe was the loving grandfather of three granddaughters whom he adored: Samantha Carroll, Rachel Lyons and Evelyn Carroll. The eldest of six, Joe is also survived by his five younger siblings, Mary Joyce Hubbard of Tilton, New Hampshire, Ellen Duffy and her husband, Jeffrey of North Attleborough, Terrence Carroll and his wife, Mary-Jo of North Falmouth, William Carroll and his wife, Laurie of Oviedo, Florida and Kevin Carroll and his wife, Hilary of Plymouth, as well as many nieces and nephews and his loyal Labrador Retriever, Gunny.
There will be a memorial service to honor Joe, on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 1:00-4:00pm at MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joe's name to NVNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 or online at https://www.nvna.org/ . NVNA provided excellent hospice care for Joe, and unwavering support to Bev.
