Joseph J. Golden of Marshfield, formerly of South Boston, passed away on September 19, 2017 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 53 years of Mary Ellen (Dailey) Golden. Loving father of Maureen (Allen) Holland of Newton, Mary (Kenneth) Roth of Marshfield, Kathleen (Kenneth) McClarey of Marshfield, John Golden of Marshfield, Timothy, BPD (Joanie) Golden of West Roxbury, Daniel (Kathleen) Golden of Norwood, Amy Golden (Eric Fagerlund) of Marshfield, Andrew (Beth) Golden of Marblehead, Kerriann Golden (Stephen Turner) of Melrose, Kristen (Mark) Riordan of Quincy, and Kaitlyn Golden (David Itz) of Abington.  Loving grandfather of 26 grandchildren. Son of the late Francis and Mildred Golden of South Boston. Brother of Dorothy Donahue, Mildred Davis, and Claire McDonough. Predeceased by his siblings Ruth, Paul, Marie, Francis, Peter, and Kevin; Joseph is survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was a retired letter carrier, having worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years. His greatest joy was his family, and he enjoyed spending time at the beach with his children and grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean Street, Marshfield.
