Obituary

Joseph R. Tripp passed away on August 10th at the age of 87.  Joseph was one of three boys born to the late William V and Mary (McMillan) Tripp of Fields Corner, Boston.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He and his wife Barbara just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 22nd.  It was a love affair from first sight.  They moved to Marshfield in 1961 and remained there surrounded by their daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, his 2 girls, Barbara Moreau and her husband Steven, Helen McCluskey and her husband Robert (Bob) and his 4 grandchildren: Steven and Michael Moreau and Elizabeth and Samuel McCluskey.  He leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends - and a very special "3rd daughter" Kelly Trent.  He was preceded in death by his brothers William V. Tripp and Robert V. Tripp.
Joe was a man of many interests and many stories.  He strived to keep busy - playing golf, bowling, fishing, swimming at his favorite beach, studying history through reading or road trips to Gettysburg, earning a college degree the same year as his oldest daughter.  He liked to work with his hands fixing things or trying new crafts or puzzles.  He was an avid game player and loved to play Dominoes and Yahtzee.  He always had a cup of coffee ready for friends to sip while sharing old stories or issues of the day.
One of Joe's most special activities was spending time with his family.  Nothing mattered more to him.  He coached both his daughter's town softball teams and attended as many of his grandchildren's sporting events as possible. He loved babysitting his grandchildren and taking his yearly family vacations to Disney World, family cruises, and celebrating holidays.  He loved to travel with his wife Barbara, and they completed many road trips and cruises.
Joe enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War.  He never left home without wearing his Korean War hat.  After leaving the service he started his career in the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in Randolph, MA.
Joe also had a strong neighborhood responsibility and worked to secure lifeguards at Fieldston Beach along with town sewerage and streetlights for this neighborhood.  He was always ready to help his neighbors or a person in need.
Joe lived life to the fullest. He will be missed by many.
