Obituary

Justin E. Grankewicz of Wareham passed away on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at the age of 32.

Justin was born on January 3 rd 1991 to Cheryl Grankewicz. He grew up in Marshfield and his youth was filled with adventure and excitement wherever he could find it. Growing up, Justin excelled as an athlete. He loved skateboarding, baseball, football, wrestling, soccer, street hockey and hackie sacking. He never lost his love for sports and was a deeply passionate Patriots and Bruins fan.

Along the way from middle school into high school, he realized his passion for comedy and acting. He loved to make people laugh and to bring joy to others. This passion would turn into his lifelong pursuit of the arts. In high school he was most known for his hilarious antics on the MHS "Before the Bells" skit show. He was a class clown, and he embraced that role in everything he did. Justin was not only the funniest guy in the room though, he also was blessed with the gift of music. He played with multiple bands growing up, was in the school chorus, sang with a select choir called the Marshalleirs, and could be found center stage singing karaoke any chance he got. He graduated from Marshfield High in 2009 and went on to graduate from Emerson College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Studies with a focus in Acting. Following his education, Justin worked his way from a call center to a leadership and management role with Tufts Health Care. It was here he developed and formed many great friendships and professional relationships with colleagues.

Justin spent his life creating art, comedy, drama, and music. His artistic achievements include his various roles in the cast of King Richards Faire, his tenure with The David Tessier All-Star Stars, and a wide range of theater productions. In these roles he found some of his proudest moments in life and developed some of his closest friendships. Justin is the youngest to ever hold the title of King Richard of Carvershire. He was a man who worked tirelessly on his craft, a skilled storyteller, and he had a beautifully unique ability to bring characters to life through song and speech. Music and acting were engrained in his soul. His ability to bring music and literature to life was a blessing. This gift created friendships and happiness everywhere he went.

Justin was an athlete, a comedian, an artist, a musician, a thespian, and so much more. He had an innate ability for embracing the calamity of life head on with his whimsical and humorous perspective. He approached everything through the lens of joy. He loved to create, explore, and evolve as an artist. He was a lover of the arts, and he loved each and every one of the people he got to create musical or theatrical magic with. Justin had this special way of making anyone feel seen, heard, understood, and loved. He was a caring, selfless, joyful, gentle giant who impacted everyone he met, whether they were a lifelong friend or the employee at the Dunkin drive-thru. He made everyone's lives around him better for having been a part of it. He was a beacon of joy and happiness, and his light will continue to spread far and wide, carried in the hearts and deeds of those who loved him.

He is survived by his mothers Cheryl Grankewicz & Susan Babb, Fiancée Rachel Beauregard, his brothers Jordan Ortiz, David Babb, Mike Mulry, Alex Ratner, David Tessier, sister in-Law Jenn Babb, niece & goddaughter Madison Babb, nephew Gabe Babb, his furry children Jean-Marie, Penelope, and Paris, his KRF family, and countless other family, friends, and admirers.
