Karen Marie Madden (AKA "Caroline Kennedy", as she kiddingly liked to say she was switched at birth), was born in Weymouth MA on April 30th, 1958. Karen lived in Braintree for many of her early years before moving to Weymouth in the 10th grade and graduated from Weymouth North High School class of 1976, and as her longtime friends liked to say she "broke the mold", being cherished and loved by those around her. Karen touched everyone's lives with love, compassion and dedication. Karen was the beloved sister of Stephen Madden of Maine, Daniel Madden of Vermont, Gregory Madden and his wife Patricia of Holbrook, the late Paul Madden, and dear friend Anne Madden. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
Karen worked as a waitress and bartender in numerous restaurants on the South Shore area. Karen also was a preschooler teacher and moved on to becoming a paralegal which led to her final professional career as a Certified Title Examiner. Karen loved the ocean and went to the beach often, of course always with liquid refreshments for herself and all who accompanied her. She loved the beach so much she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL., before returning to Marshfield where she purchased her first home. In summer she often held cookouts and cocktail parties on her deck with all her friends.
She traveled on numerous occasions to the island of Aruba for its warm turquoise waters and of course the 2 for 1 happy hours. In April of 2010 Karen was able to visit her brother who was stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, Austria and they traveled to Prague, Czech Republic and Bratislava, Slovak Republic. She also enjoyed taking vacations on Cape Cod.
Karen was a wonderful person who has brought happiness and comfort to many, she was deeply loved by her family and friends and will surely be missed. Her brothers have lost their baby sister. It can be stated that she lived life to the fullest, always with joy and a positive attitude. Karen loved life and was always looking for the next adventure. Karen left behind some requests that stated, "Now start partying" and "I hope you had the time of your life Cuz I DID".
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. and will conclude with a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
