Obituary

Kathleen N. (Brown) Burgess of Hanson passed away on October 9, 2021. She was the beloved wife of William Burgess; cherished daughter of Nicole (Ferguson) Brown and the late Henry Brown; loving stepmother of McKenzie Burgess and the late Maddilyn Burgess; dear sister of Teresa Peters and her husband Donald of Worcester, Linnea Rego and her late husband Michael of Lynn, Michael Brown and his wife Laurie of Rochdale, Anthony Brown and his wife Sarah of Leicester, and sister in-law of Wayne Burgess and his wife Kris of Worcester. Kathleen also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Kate was born and raised in Leicester. The youngest of 5 children, she was "treated like a doll" by her devoted older sisters. Growing up, Kate was very active in sports and cheerleading. She was a graduate of Leicester High School Class of 1989 and went on to attend Quinsigamond Community College.

Kate packed up and relocated to the south shore at the age of 20 and continued to be involved with her nieces and nephews at all their sporting events and birthdays. Kate reconnected with Bill, her high school crush; they were married and began their life together. She loved her flower gardens and became quite a photographer. Kate and Bill loved vacations, especially with her Hebert family, to destinations such as Disney, Old Orchard Beach, and Bermuda. Kate loved to play golf and was always up for an adventure.

Kate was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 20 years. Always a rule follower, she became known as the go-to person for knowledge and problem solving. She did a tremendous amount of volunteer work at various organizations. Kate was loved by all who knew her and she will be watching over us from the 19th hole.
