She was 52. Kathy bravely battled inflammatory breast cancer for the last 18 months. She leaves her husband of 25 years, Brian P. Kane; their children, Erin M. Kane of Annandale, Va., and Conor P. Kane of Marshfield; her mother, Joanne M. Toland of Whitman; her siblings, Kelly A. Wilder and her husband Kevin of Framingham, James M. Toland and his wife Jennifer of Walpole, Kara M. Wishart and her husband Scott of Braintree, and Matthew T. Toland and his wife Erika of Braintree; her mother-in-law Henrietta Kane of Edgewater, Fla.; her brother-in-law Matthew L. Kane and his wife Sandy of Prospect, Conn., and her brother-in-law Thomas J. Kane Jr. and his wife Shannon of Billerica; her nieces and nephews, Kourtnie, Kaitlyn and Kristin Wilder, Michael and Meredith Wishart, Landon and Emma Toland, Matthew Kane of Tampa, Fla., and Dylan and Patrick Kane; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and many special friends. She was predeceased by her father, James H. Toland, her father-in-law Thomas J. Kane Sr. and her sister-in-law Linda D. Kane.

Kathy was born in Boston and was raised in Braintree. She graduated from Braintree High School in 1982 and graduated from Cornell University in 1986. Kathy was a business analyst for Guardian Life Insurance Company, and previously worked at Keyport Life Insurance Company and Sun Life Financial.

Kathy enjoyed knitting, shopping and music, especially the Bee Gees, 1980s and country music. She loved walks along Green Harbor Beach, which was one of her favorite places, and spending time there with family and friends. After a day at the beach, she loved hosting cookouts for family and friends at her home. She looked forward to annual trips with Brian, Erin and Conor exploring our National Parks. She cherished memories of the Toland Family vacation to Ireland and celebrating her 50th birthday in Nashville with Brian, her mother and siblings.

Kathy was most proud of her children. Erin graduated from George Mason University earlier this year. Conor is a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Kathy will be remembered for her kindness and courage, and for her commitment to family. One of the last things Kathy said was, "I have the best family."
