Obituary

Kathleen Wilczenski (maiden name: Ryan), aged 77, died peacefully in the early morning of May 15th, 2025. After being revived by CPR from cardiac arrest in February, she faced an unusual amount of health setbacks within a 3-month period, including a diagnosis in March of a rare form of cancer of the (intrahepatic) liver bile duct. Combined with a history of chronic heart disease, Kathleen ultimately passed from complications due to congestive heart failure at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Kathleen was born in 1947, in Salem, MA, to Alice and John Ryan. One of 5 children, she graduated from St. James High School and lived in Salem until 1979, when she then moved with her husband and two children to Marshfield. Kathleen worked at Saint Anne's by The Sea Parish for many years until she entered the workforce in the corporate financial world. She retired from her career in January of 2020 from Boston Financial where she worked as a manager for many years.

At age 19 on October 29, 1967, Kathleen (Kathie) married her husband Eddie, the love of her life, whom she had been going steady with since the age of 15. Fifty-seven years of marriage sounds like a long time but goes by in a blink of an eye for two people who were perfect for each other. Anyone who knew Kathie and Eddie knew them to be one of the cutest couples ever, always flirting, always connected and always displaying how in love they were. Kathie's happiest moments were spent with Eddie on boat rides, trips to watch drag racing in New Hampshire, spontaneous drives to and from the mountains in North Conway, and rides to Florida stopping along the way in Amish country and the Blue Ridge Mountains. One of Kathie's absolute favorite places was Walt Disney World, where she could surround herself with happy nostalgia and celebrate her wedding anniversary with her soul mate. Kathie loved music, especially "The Oldies" that she loved to sing and dance to, doing the Mashed Potato and the Twist like a pro. One of her most memorable traits was her uncontrollable laughter. Random things would strike her funny whether in a business meeting, (sometimes having to excuse herself) belly laughing with her sisters, or at home at the dinner table.

She is survived by her husband Edmund Wilczenski, her daughter Jennifer Wilczenski, and her son David Wilczenski. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Carr and also survived by her sister Maureen (Micki) Scott, brother John "Jack" Ryan and wife Jennifer, and sister Mary Alice (Mimi) Little and husband Michael. She will also be deeply missed by the nieces and nephews she loved: Christine, Sandra, Joanne, Michael, Kara, Brian, Kristen, Jordan, Janna, Patrick and Ryan as well as many friends and loved ones.

Family, friends, and others are invited to the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., to reminisce and honor the life of Kathleen Wilczenski.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by interment in the Couch Cemetery.
