It is with great sadness and a sense of loss that Kelli A. (Donegan) Meade of Marshfield, loving wife, devoted mother, caring sister, and doting aunt, died unexpectedly at home on January 30, 2022.
Left to honor and treasure her legacy are her husband, Joseph P. Meade, and their son, Patrick J. Meade. She is also survived by her brother, David M. Donegan, Jr. of Lynnfield and her sister Kerri A. Trapasso (of New Jersey) along with her husband Thomas Trapasso and their children Elena, Thomas, and Sophia. Additionally, Kelli leaves a long legacy of former students whom she nurtured and empowered throughout her 27 years in the Whitman and Norwell Public Schools.
Kelli was born March 7, 1968 in Lynn, MA to David M. and Cheryl D. (O'Neil) Donegan and spent her formative years in Lynnfield. As a child she demonstrated equal prowess on both the athletic field and in the classroom. Having excelled as a varsity athlete in both softball and field hockey, she inevitably felt a stronger calling on the academic side of education and embarked on a lifelong goal of instilling that love of learning in others. She went on to gain her undergraduate degree at Salem State and later her Master's degree at University of Massachusetts, where she later taught as a professor. Her real passion was influencing young minds, where she developed her lifelong educational credo, "nothing is hard...just challenging." Kelli lived this mantra throughout her life and approached every challenge with zeal and enthusiasm.
Kelli always had a special attachment to Marblehead Light, and this took on an even greater measure of importance as this was the location that her husband proposed to her. With that, on July 19, 1997, Joe and Kelli began their life as one. Their family was not complete until Kelli had the second love of her life, her son Patrick. She instilled in him a love of learning and athletics.
Beyond her family, her life's passion was teaching by creating a classroom community where she was not only a teacher, but also a role model to her students. She spent much of her career focused on helping to organize and facilitate many extracurricular activities, spending 20 years mentoring the student government. Not just her students, but also her colleagues looked up to her as a model of educational excellence with a lifelong love of intellectual curiosity. In 2019, she was awarded the North Star award in recognition for all her work in the Norwell Public Schools. These recognitions, however, pale in comparison to the numerous expressions of appreciation and gratitude from the many students that had the distinct honor of having "Mrs. Meade" as their teacher.
Her circle of influence didn't stop with family and students. It was rare that Kelli could go anywhere and not run into someone whom she knew personally. Kelli had the unique ability to interact with friends and strangers alike in such a way that made everyone feel important. As such, the world is a sadder place with her passing because she brought so much joy to those that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be sorely missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
