Obituary

Kelly Anne Womersley, of Marshfield, passed away suddenly from complications with asthma while at her childhood home on the evening of November 24th at the age of 42.

Born in Weymouth on December 2, 1980—a whole 2 minutes before her twin brother (her favorite claim)—Kelly was the oldest of three children raised by the loving, Kevin and Donna Womersley, in the idyllic, Marshfield, Massachusetts. She was raised on salt water, sun, and snow, and enjoyed camping trips to Dolly Copp with the extended family, ski trips up north with countless family and friends, trips to the Cape and the aquarium with her aunt, and making her friends laugh.

After graduating from Marshfield High School in 1999, Kelly went on to study at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Kelly became a mom to two beautiful children, and moved back to Marshfield as an adult where she enjoyed spending time with her family and helping patients at work. Even as an adult, Kelly loved sailing, skiing, and trips with the family, whether to Wells, Maine, Smuggler's Notch, or Cape Cod.

It is fitting that Kelly's passing was so close to Thanksgiving. As the eldest of three (Yes, the 2 minutes count—ask any set of twins), Kelly had a natural instinct to care for others and make them smile. She understood the art of small gifts of kindness, whether it was complimenting an outfit, helping her dad lift a boat or some wood, or offering to pick something up for the family on the way home from work. One Christmas as a tween, she visited the mall with her aunt and came upon a display of Christmas trees freckled with ornaments that represented each child in need and what they wished for that Christmas. Upon finding she could choose an ornament and buy another child a gift, Kelly took her own money she had for Christmas and purchased something for another kid she would never meet but whose heart she would touch.

There are countless Kelly stories that warm hearts and induce giggles, but the ones that remind us of her spirit the most are those told by her many friends. No matter where Kelly was, she drew people to her like a magnet. Her spirit and love for life was contagious. The greatest gift Kelly gave us was her daughters, Ava and Abby. They represent the very best of Kelly and we are grateful for them every day.

Kelly was predeceased by her maternal and fraternal grandparents, as well as her dear friend, Jessica Gambon. and her forever-loyal aunt, Joanne Bell Blondin. Kelly is survived by the two loves of her life—her daughters—Abigail Bizzozero and Ava Womersley; her first and best friend, twin brother, Kevin, and his family, Jillian, Logan, and Finn Womersley; her sister, Caitlin Womersley, as well as her devoted and loving parents, Kevin and Donna Womersley.

The family would like to thank the Grays, the Blondins, the Wilkinsons, our Aunt Kathy, our extended family, and Kelly's countless friends who loved her through thick and thin. And a special thanks to Kelly's employers, Dr. Michael Rogers and Dr. John Hayes, who helped her find new purpose and value in herself at work.

Please join us in wishing Kelly farewell on Monday, December 4th, from 4pm to 6pm at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, at 10:30am at Saint Christine's Parish, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.
