Kenneth L. Matthews, Jr., of Pembroke, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on January 9, 2018 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of the late Virginia Matthews and the late Joan G. (Hill) Matthews; dear father of Leslie Pimentel-Matthews and her wife Tammy of Mashpee, and step-children Deborah Spears and her husband Preston Banks of Michigan, Dennis Mattson and his wife Mary of Florida. Kenneth was brother of Marie Santo and her husband, the late Joseph Santo of Milton, Anne Clary and her husband James of Quincy, Clare McSweeney and her husband Kevin of Norwood, and Eileen Nemerowski and her husband, the late John Nemerowski, of Wakefield. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and his grand dog Petey.
Kenny was a communicant of Saint Ann's Parish in Marshfield. He spent his life as a sales man for Electronic Distributors Corporation. After retirement he spent many happy summers working Security at the Marshfield Fair. He was an avid New England sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins faithfully and "may have" placed a few bets in Vegas. Ironically his death was 1/9/18, the last year the Red Sox won the World Series before the curse was reversed. But his true passion was watching his pride and joy and only child Leslie "Lester Mary" play hockey for the last 40 plus years. He attended not only her games but also followed the high school sport careers of his great nephews. He loved watching sports so much he could be seen year-round watching the grandchildren of his close friends playing sports. While watching is daughter at the Hockey rinks, he was known by all as AK or Grampa Kenny. He was very outgoing and made many lifelong friends. His smile, laughter and uncanny knack for working a room will be missed.
