Obituary
Kevin G. Woods, of Marshfield and South Wellfleet, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 10, 2016 in Needham, Massachusetts. He was 58 years old. Born in Boston, he was the son of Eleanor (Regan) Woods of East Sandwich and the late John E. Woods, Sr. Kevin grew up in West Roxbury and later lived in Weston, where he graduated from Weston High School in 1975. An accounting professional, he earned a BBA from UMass Amherst, and a MBA from Babson College's Franklin Olin Graduate School of Business. Most recently, Kevin was employed as CFO of PR Restaurants, LLC, a franchisee of Panera Bread. Previously he worked as a CPA for Arthur Young and Company and was Treasurer and VP-Finance of Wellington Management Company for many years.
Kevin shared his love of hiking with the Boy Scouts of Troop 101 in Marshfield, leading them on hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He was Treasurer of Choral Art Society of the South Shore. An avid triathlete, Kevin participated in races locally and beyond. A family man first and foremost, he enjoyed gardening, nature observation and ocean swimming. He will forever be remembered for his discipline, hard work, stoicism, and his gentle, quiet soul.
Kevin is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Christine (Murphy) Woods, of Marshfield; three sons, Sean P. Woods, of Dedham, Peter J. Woods, of Marshfield and Conor A. Woods, of Sacramento, CA; three brothers and one sister, John E. Woods, Jr. and his wife Regina, of Fort Mill, SC, Dr. Warren D. Woods, Sr. and his wife JoAnn, of East Sandwich, Robert R. Woods and his wife Marla, of Falmouth and Catherine W. Dingman, of Wellfleet; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield on Thursday, June 16, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Friday, June 17, at 8:00 a.m. from MacDonald Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, with burial at Couch Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
