Lawrence J. Barbetti, of Duxbury, passed away on March 14, 2020 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Anita T. (Galke) Barbetti. Loving father of Justine Dillon and husband Patrick of Sudbury and Jennifer Scott and husband Chris of Marshfield and grandfather of Alexander, James, Thomas, Christopher, and Matthew. Dear brother of Jamie Barbetti of Milford, CT, he also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Born in Bridgeport, he grew up in Milford, CT. He graduated from Jonathan Law High School and immediately joined the US Air force. He married his high school sweetheart 53 years ago and soon became a Staff Sargent in Security Service. They spent most of their 5 year tour in Berlin, Germany during the cold war. On returning to the US Larry attended Hartford University and earned his Bachelor degree in Business. As an avid Audio Visual technologist, he was employed by several large Insurance Companies throughout his successful career. In the mid-80's he started his own business, North East Media Productions, providing large and small companies consulting, designing and implementation of their communication, advertising, and training goals. He retired in 2008.
Larry appreciated living in Duxbury where he could "check" the ocean every day. In his younger years he enjoyed boating, lobstering and clamming, proudly sharing his catch. He was always an enthusiastic vegetable gardener and hid well his exasperation when finding half chewed tomatoes on the vine. It was a kind and simple life. He loved his God, his Country, a crackling fireplace fire, blue skies, Italian food, and his black pickup truck. But none could compare with his love of family gatherings and watching his two daughters grow into women he was so proud of. His five precious grandsons who all called him "Poka" always provided him with bragging rights of their achievements in school and sports. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass and interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will take place in June. Please check back for updates on the service date and times.
