Obituary

Linda M. (Sullivan) Gray, a longtime resident of Duxbury, passed suddenly on April 5, 2017 after a long illness. Linda is the beloved wife of Michael J. Gray and mother of Jenifer 'Jeni' Gray of Duxbury and Rebecca 'Becca' Gray and her husband Matthew Phippard of Pembroke; grandmother of Grayce, Miles, Ella and Avery Tate and Noah Gray-Phippard.  Linda is predeceased by her parents, the late Robert and Rita (Loughman) Sullivan, a brother, the late Robert Sullivan and a sister, the late Nancy Jackman.

Linda was born in Boston and grew up in Jamaica Plain. Linda was the reservations manager at the Copley Plaza, in Boston in 1964 for eight years.  She was often mentioned in the Boston Globe and Boston Herald as the "Go to Gal," for reservations in Boston. Linda was their main photographer as well, photographing the many celebrities who passed through the hotel. She was also the runner up in the, "Miss Massachusetts" photographer's contest. Linda's artistic talents were all over the spectrum. From painting, photography, sewing, reupholstering, writing and decorating, her unique touch on anything was a statement and everlasting.

Linda married Michael Gray in 1967. That same year, they built their first house in Duxbury. In 1973, Linda lovingly retired from her career, when she became a mother and "over the moon" with her first baby girl Jenifer and then later, in 1977, Becca was born. Linda was the most loving mother and loved "her girls" with all her heart.

In 1993, Linda was very involved with the Helen Bumpus gallery in Duxbury. She was on the board of directors and then became president, while also handling all the art work for the gallery and write-ups for the Duxbury Clipper too.

When Linda turned 50, she had her second career as an actress and model. Linda was in many TV commercials and did print work for many magazines.

In 2000, Linda became a grandmother. She was the proudest of her 5 grandchildren. Family meant everything to Linda. Watching her family grow, with each new grandchild, was her greatest legacy.

Linda loved gardening and decorating along with traveling. Many adventures were had with "her guy," Mike. They traveled the world to Paris, Hawaii, Bermuda, England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, Africa and around the USA.

Linda will always be remembered by her family, friends and anyone who she crossed paths with as a wonderful, loving, giving and caring person, always putting everybody before herself. Saying she was one of a kind and a remarkable human being is an understatement. Linda will be missed immensely.
