Lise Marie Aimela Gervais

Hull

Lise Marie Aimela Gervais passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026 at the age of 76. She was the beloved wife of J. David Lukos and loving mother of Gabriel Gervais.

Lise was born in Quebec, Canada, to Jean-Pierre Gervais and Héléna St-Denis, part of a large and loving family with siblings Denis, Robert, Yves, and Anne-Marie. She was a vibrant, adventurous, and compassionate woman whose warmth, humor, and zest for life touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In 1972, Lise earned her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Montreal. Following graduation, her adventurous spirit led her to France, where she spent time working in the vineyards of the Champagne region during the grape harvest. She purchased a little Citroën 2CV, affectionately named “Léonne,” which became part of her adventures exploring the French countryside.

Lise began her career as an occupational therapist in Montreal before moving to Victoria, British Columbia, where she helped individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities transition from institutions into community homes. She later moved to Massachusetts, continuing her work through Shriver Clinical Services. Throughout her career, she became a respected specialist in swallowing disorders and a dedicated advocate, educator, and consultant for individuals with disabilities. Her kindness and generosity extended beyond her professional responsibilities, and she was deeply admired by colleagues and those she served.

In 2008, Lise met J. David Lukos. They began building their life together in 2009 and married in 2012. Together, they shared a love of travel and adventure, exploring destinations throughout France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and many beautiful places across the United States. Lise welcomed and was dearly loved by her extended family members, Jennifer Schminke, her husband Jan Schminke, their children Leo, Jasper and Tobi; Elizabeth Lukos; Barbara Robinson, her husband Christopher Robinson, their child Finley; Christopher Lukos and his wife, Laura Lukos.

Lise embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved dancing, singing, bicycling, playing tennis, and attending musical performances, particularly classical music and performances by French-Canadian artists. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice and a youthful, spirited personality, she brought energy and joy wherever she went. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a playful streak, and a talent for making people laugh, sometimes with a colorful expression delivered at just the right moment.

Lise was known for her warmth, generosity, and remarkable ability to connect with people. She maintained close relationships with family and friends, often serving as a source of strength and connection for those she loved. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others were evident in both her personal life and her professional work. She had a way of making people feel welcome, and her presence brought a special brightness to the lives around her.

Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2018, Lise gradually lost many of the memories she had created throughout her remarkable life. Yet the disease could never erase the love, kindness, and warmth she had shared with others. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is finally at peace, free from suffering, and forever remembered for the beautiful life she lived.
