Lloyd George "Mac" McLean, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 86. Mac was the loving husband to MaryLou McLean for 62 years, father of two, grandfather to three, and friend to many.
Mac was born on January 5th, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts to George and Peg McLean. He graduated from Abington High School in 1951 and began his work life as a Dairy Farmer at Griffins Diary Farm, a role he dearly loved and talked about his whole life. From there, Mac was a union carpenter, building homes, churches and schools across the south shore of Boston. He met and married MaryLou Riordan of Scituate, Massachusetts in November 1958 and raised a son and daughter together.
During the 1950s, Mac joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard and served for more than 23 years on multiple missile defense sites, retiring in 1974. After his military service, Mac served as the Clerk of the Works for City of Boston under Mayor White. After public service, Mac held hospital engineering and maintenance assistant Director roles at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston and Jordan Hospital of Plymouth, retiring in 1997.
Mac was known for his work ethic, sense of humor, and patriotism. Most of all, he was known for his love and dedication to his family. His interests included gardening, woodworking, and military history. Upon his retirement and with the birth of his grandchildren, Mac flourished with each of them, building significant and meaningful relationships.
He was survived by his wife, MaryLou McLean of Marshfield, Massachusetts, his son, Tim McLean and his wife Debbie of St. Pete Beach, Florida, his daughter, Laurie McLean Farris and her husband, Len Farris of Exeter, New Hampshire. His grandchildren, Taylor Farris of Hoboken, New Jersey, Casey Click and her husband Jack Click of Richmond, Virginia, and Drew Farris of Exeter, New Hampshire.
Mac spent the last year of his life as a resident of the Bridges Community in Pembroke, Massachusetts. The family would like to commend and acknowledge the Bridge's staff for their professionalism, compassion and warm care that was provided to Mac during this time.
Plans are being made for interment at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors and a private family service.
