Lois Ann (McGuire) Welch of Marshfield, passed away on January 4, 2019 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Joseph G. "Jerry" Welch, Sr., mother of the late Joseph G. "Jerry" Welch, III (BFD), sister of the late Robert McGuire, and companion of the late Robert Durkin, Lois leaves her children Brenda Ingham and her husband Richard, Helen Welch, and Thomas Welch and his wife Jayme, all of Marshfield, and daughter in-law Laura Welch. She was the cherished grandmother of Jeanette, Corinne, Katie, Haylee, and Addyson.

Lois was born in Brighton and grew up in North Quincy, graduating from NQHS in 1951. She spent the majority of her adult life in Marshfield, which she loved. She worked for the Town of Weymouth in the Accounting department, then finished her career working for the OLLI program at UMASS Boston, she made many great friends at both places. She was active in the community, volunteering in many ways, the Food Pantry, driving Veterans to the VA, and working for the Plymouth County Democratic League were among the many. She was an exceptional artist who loved taking lessons at Plymouth Center for the Arts. Her favorite place to go was Humarock, to walk the beach, the bridges, or just sit on the seawall and enjoy the beauty of the area. She was a strong advocate for shopping at all locally owned businesses.

She had a passion for life, she loved her family first and foremost, and just spending time with her family brought her great joy. She had many lifelong friends that were like family to her, spending time with them was always cherished moments. She was devoted to her faith, she loved the St. Christine's parish family, which was a great support network through the years. She embodied what it means to live your faith, by loving others, having compassion, helping those in need, and being selfless. Every person she met could feel the love she had in her heart.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and especially her family, but we were all so truly blessed to have her in our lives for the time she was here.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Friday, January 11 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Christine's Parish Church, 1295 Main Street (Rte. 3A) in Marshfield. Burial will be in the Couch Cemetery.
