Lorraine Wood Kinsella, 93, of Marshfield, passed away at home surrounded by her children. Born in 1932 in South Boston, Lorraine and her husband Ted moved from Brighton to Marshfield to raise their five children in 1960. Lorraine lived a full and loving life devoted to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her warm smile, strong spirit, and the kindness she shared so generously with those around her.
She was the beloved mother of Maureen Mancini (and her husband Stephan Mancini) of Marshfield, Lisa Harubin (and her husband Edward "Ned" Harubin) of Foley, AL, Mark Kinsella of Marshfield, and Diane Robin Smith (and her husband David Smith) of Marshfield.
Lorraine cherished her role as "Mimi" to her grandchildren: Christopher Harubin, Zachary Smith, Alexandra Smith Sopper, Nicholas Harubin, Katherine Harubin, Matthew Smith and Shawn Kinsella as well as her great-grandchildren: Bennett, Quinn, Reese, and River.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Ted" Kinsella as well as by her son, Edward Kinsella Jr., her parents Hilda (Lambe) Wood and George Wood, her brother Robert Wood and her sister Ruth (Wood) Healey and her husband Paul Healey. Many in Marshfield will remember Lorraine from her years at local businesses including the Giant Department Store, the Fotomat Booth in Marshfield Center, the Good & Cheap Toy Store and Scituate Hardware. She had a friendly word for everyone and a work ethic that matched her generous heart.
Lorraine had a deep love of the beach. She raised her family at Humarock Beach and later spent over 30 winters enjoying the sun and sand in their home in Bradenton, Florida. Her connection to the coast was a constant joy in her life.
She was a longtime parishioner of both St. Christine's Church and St. Theresa's Chapel, where her faith remained a guiding force. Lorraine also had many lifelong friendships including her South Boston grade-school girlfriends that were dear to her, and she nurtured those bonds with warmth, loyalty, and humor throughout her life.
Lorraine's legacy is one of love, resilience, and dedication to family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield.
