Obituary

Louise H. Galli of Marshfield passed away surrounded by the love of her family on September 8, 2025. Louise was the beloved wife of Daniel Galli; loving mother of Michael Galli of Dallas, TX and Lauren Galli Kelebesa and her husband Noble of Hanover; cherished grandmother of Isabella, Ezra, and Chike; and dear sister of Robert Moglia, William Moglia, Ronald Moglia, Nancy Moglia, and Richard Manolian.

Lou was born in Boston's historic West End before moving to Randolph and eventually making Somerville her home. A proud alumna of Julie Billiart High School, Lou treasured the lifelong friendships she made and spoke fondly of her time there.

After graduation, Lou began her career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, working her way up to become the secretary to the head of the Welfare Department. During her tenure, she played a role in several pivotal cases that helped improve child protection services, work she was incredibly proud of.

A lifelong Boston Bruins fan, Lou loved the opportunity to talk about the time she met Bobby Orr. But perhaps nothing topped the moment Elvis Presley looked directly at her during a concert in Boston.

In 1974, Lou married Dan, and together they built a wonderful life filled with laughter, travel, and love over the next 51 years. Their greatest joy was raising their two children, Michael and Lauren, who were always her heart and soul. In time, Lou's joy only grew as she became "Nana" to Isabella, Ezra, and Chike.

She adored her grandchildren and often said they brought light into her life. Whether she was taking Bella on shopping trips or cheering Ezra on from the sidelines at his basketball and soccer games, being a Nana was one of her greatest joys. And then there was Lucky, her beloved dog and constant companion.

Lou loved the beach and spent countless days soaking up the sun or looking for sea glass. She was a great poker player and could hold her own with her preferred game being Texas Hold 'Em. Lou loved the fall because that is when Shipyard Pumpkin Ale would re-appear.  There were several Marshfield establishments that made sure they purchased extra to extend the "Pumpkin Ale" season for Lou.

Lou loved a good horror movie, often seeking recommendations from her children, and she never turned down a spontaneous road trip. When Lauren once called saying, "I need to drive to Pennsylvania tomorrow to pick up a puppy - want to come?" Lou didn't hesitate: "Whose car are we taking?" That same sense of adventure showed up on one of her birthdays, when she was told, "We're leaving for the Caribbean tomorrow morning." She was packed and ready to go only a few hours later.

Lou had an extraordinary gift for making friends: effortless, immediate, and lasting. To know her was to feel like her best friend, and for many, that's exactly what she became. She was funny, honest, direct, and deeply loyal. She listened. She showed up. She was protective of her loved ones. She became a trusted confidant to many, which is why she leaves behind an immeasurable number of people who were better for having known her.

When Lou was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, she was told there would be good days and bad. She made a promise to herself - to live every good day to its fullest. And she did.

In her later years, Lou discovered a passion for travel and made up for lost time with trips to the Caribbean, Italy, England, France, Greece, the Azores, and Iceland, where she chased the Northern Lights. She rang in the New Year in Key West, watched the greasy pole competition at the St. Peter's Fiesta in Gloucester, and enjoyed a family trip to Hawaii this past June, exploring the islands with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Lou brought light, energy, honesty, and strength to every room she entered. She was strong, fiercely loving, and always ready to dive into life with both feet. She will be missed deeply, but remembered with love, by all who were lucky enough to know her.
