Obituary

Louise Federico Tomasi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  All who knew her would say she was the heart and soul of her family.

Louise was born in Boston to Giulio and Loretta Federico on May 28, 1924 the third of six children.  She lived in the North End where she met a very outgoing, very handsome man, Alfred Tomasi. They were engaged, but WWII interfered and Alfred was sent to North Carolina, a soldier soon to go overseas.  Louise packed a wedding gown and along with her parents traveled by train to marry and become a war bride.

Louise and Al went on to have five children who married and produced 15 grandchildren, who married and produced 24 great grandchildren.

Louise had a deep devotion to her husband and large extended family, and was at her happiest when she was cooking for her growing family. "Nani", as she was known to her grandchildren, grew up in Boston's North End and loved making Italian food and desserts for her family, with pasta fazoo and a million other kinds of pasta. She would always have food and a conversation, and an opinion to share, for when they would stop by. She was known for her no-nonsense ways, her sharp wit and laughter, and her abundance of candy. She loved to crochet, needlepoint and sew, but she would pitch in at the family garden center and water plants or run a cash register!

Louise left this world on Friday, March 18 at the age of 97 after a blessedly brief illness.  She now resides in heaven with her much loved husband, Alfred (AJ) and son Ric where I'm sure she has been greeted with both tears and joy. She will be missed forever by her devoted children Claudia Lambert (husband Gerard) of Duxbury, Lydia DiRamio (husband Robert) of Duxbury, Steven Tomasi (wife Linda) of Kingston, and Dana Plant (husband Alan) of Bluffton, SC, and cherished grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Steven, Andrew, Juliane, Angela, Fredric, Jr., Anthony, Andrew, Adam, Ariana, Lauren, Elizabeth, Christina, and 24 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her siblings Isabella, Dominic, Anna, Virginia, and Peter.
