Lowell Edward Hagan, 78, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, surrounded by his wife Christine and his son David.
Lowell was born on May 29, 1946, in Boston to the late Ann Marie and Edward Hagan. He attended Waltham High School and then spent 30 years working in the parts division of General Motors in Westwood, MA until he retired in the summer of 1994.
Lowell married the love of his life, Christine, in 1968, and together they had a son, David. He was a loving husband and father, known for his quick wit and ability to brighten someone's day with his playful spirit and personality. Lowell had a passion for cars, especially antique cars, and was fascinated by politics and history. He seldom missed a day meeting up with friends at the local Dunkin's downtown for coffee and chit-chat, even when he was sick or in pain. He battled his illnesses over the last few years head-on, all the while maintaining his well-known sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, and his son, David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ann Marie, and his brother, Peter.
Lowell disliked the thought of people staring at him in a box with all the formality that tends to surround such an affair. Instead, he wished to be cremated and for a party to be held in his honor. The family will plan a celebration of his life in the future.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Lowell's doctors: Dr. Christopher Coakley and his daughter and nurse practitioner, Erin Coakley; his pulmonologist, Dr. Matthew Lowry; his cardiologist, Dr. Robert Scarlatelli; and his oncologist, Dr. James Stoeckle, for their care and guidance during Lowell's illness.
