Obituary

Madison "Maddie" Straub, age 17, of Pembroke, passed away on September 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Maddie was a vibrant and spirited young woman whose adventurous soul left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her big smile could light up any room, bringing joy to those around her.

A Senior at Silver Lake High enrolled in the CTE program, Maddie was known for her infectious laughter, kind heart, and determination. She approached every challenge she faced with enthusiasm and resilience. This past summer alone, Maddie balanced four jobs, including barbacking at Christina's, working at the local SnackShack and Farmers Market, and even harvesting her favorite food at 2Rock Oyster Farm. Her work ethic was truly second to none.

Maddie embraced life to the fullest, fueled by her love for music, travel, and food. The beach was her happy place, especially at sunset. More than anything, Maddie loved spending time with her siblings and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Maddie was the cherished daughter of Elizabeth Quinlan Straub and the late Reed M. Straub. She is survived by her siblings Cole and Sydney; her grandfathers Edward F. Quinlan and Henry "Ted" Straub; uncles, aunts and cousins; her kitty Ritzy; and a legion of friends and co-workers who will miss her deeply. She is predeceased by her grandmother Julie A. Quinlan.
