Francis, Manuel N., of Marshfield, passed away on May 6, 2016 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Judith (Barnstead) Francis and dear father of Wendy Jones and her husband Charles of Duxbury, Kerry Harrington and her husband John of Duxbury, and Manuel Francis Jr. and his wife Amy of Marshfield. Predeceased by a sister, Martha Francis, Manuel leaves his grandchildren Caitlin and Sarah Jones, Jillian and Dylan Harrington, and Sophia and Chloe Francis.

Manny attended Lowell high school and graduated in 1954. There he established the golf team and led them to a State Championship. Manny attended The University of New Hampshire studying Economics and Geology and graduated in 1958. Just as he had previously done in high school he once again established the golf team and led his team to an Atlantic Conference Championship. Upon graduation he joined his father in his passion for Agronomy and became a Golf Course Superintendant. He served in this capacity at Belmont Country Club from 1960 to 1972. He became the National Director of the Golf Course Superintendants Association of America in 1965 and shortly thereafter, Manuel Francis and Son, Inc was founded. The father and son team purchased the 200 acre property in Marshfield, MA that would become the home for their successful turf business. The two distributed their world famous "Vesper Velvet" turf to Golf Courses all across the U.S. until 1972 when they converted their property into the 18-hole Green Harbor Golf Club which has been in continuous operation since.

Manny loved his work and he continued his vocation and passion up until his death on May 6th 2016. He was a kind person who loved his family and was a beloved member of the community. He was a true entrepreneur who left a legacy at Green Harbor Golf Club that will never be forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) in Marshfield. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Haddad's Restaurant, 291 Ocean Street, Marshfield. A private interment will be in Winslow Cemetery.
