Margaret "Peg" (Ionta) Cochrane, 104, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away on March 18, 2017 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Mexico, Maine on December 20 ^th 1912 to the late Michael and Christine Ionta. She grew up with her siblings Elizabeth, d 2015, Michael, d 1970, and Marjorie (twin) d 2010.

A multi sports athlete in high school she attended Sargent College in Boston Massachusetts.  After college she became a physical therapist and served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 and was discharged as a Captain.  After leaving the Army she continued in the Physical Therapy profession in Boston.  Margaret was married to her beloved husband Nelson Cochrane in 1950 and became a homemaker and soon after a mother to Bruce (b.1953) and Scott (b.1955). She raised her family in Hingham, MA. When her sons were grown she returned to school to receive a Certificate in Reading Disabilities.  Peg tutored students for the next 10 years.

An avid skier and tennis player she enjoyed the outdoors well into her long life. She traveled extensively with the 10 ^th Mountain Division Association accompanied by her husband and her twin sister. Peg also enjoyed cooking, exercising and visiting with friends.  She regularly went to the YMCA to exercise well into her 90's.  In 2005, Peg moved to Duxbury to live with her son Scott and her twin sister Marjorie. She loved going to the beach for cook outs and spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren as well as the family dogs.

Margaret is survived by her two sons; Bruce Cochrane, spouse Patricia Cochrane of MD and their children Niall and Emily, and Scott Cochrane, former spouse Mary Cochrane, of Duxbury and their children Sarah Wartski, Brooke Langlois, and Alexandra Cochrane.  She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren Eve, Libe, Pearl, Nina, and Desmond.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan Street, Melrose MA 02176.
