Margarida Ledo Pina, 94, of Marshfield, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Born in Fonte Aleixo, Fogo, Cabo Verde on November 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Alves and Bernaldina Ledo de Pina. Affectionately known as "Guida", she spent most of her life in Cova Figuera, Fogo, where she worked as a Housekeeper and was known to put others first, doing anything and everything to make sure her family and friends were taken care of. She moved to the United States in 1992 and called Marshfield her home for the last 31 years.
Guida loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She always had a story to tell about life in Cabo Verde and advice to give, no matter the situation. As a devout Catholic, she had unwavering faith and profound spirituality. She had a playful sense of humor and a sneaky wit that brought joy and laughter to her family. She was incredibly proud of her children, boasting about the things they were doing. Even at 94 years old, she would say to them "whatever you need, call me and I'll go get it". Her most proud role in life was that of being a Vovo. Nothing brought her more joy in life than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would always say "mothers love their children first but they love their grandchildren the most".
Guida is survived by her brother Antoninho of Brockton, her sister Maria of Fonte Alexio, Fogo, her seven children, Juila Gomes of Cova Figuera, Fogo, Augustinha Veiga (Jose) of Marshfield, Alda Monteiro (Jose) of Brockton, Magna Ledo Pina of Brockton, Maria di Fatima Barros of Patim, Fogo, Santos Agosto Ledo Pina of Cova Figuera, Fogo, and Jose Ledo Pina (Daniela) of Taunton. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Guida was preceded in death by her 5 brothers and sisters, 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
