Obituary

We regretfully announce that Marie Lepine passed forward peacefully at home in Marshfield, Ma. on June 13, 2023 at the age of 85. She joins her husband Gilfred L. Lepine, her parents, family, and friends. She is survived by daughters Julie Lepine, her longtime and devoted caregiver, and Mary Smith, as well as her grandchildren Amie and Andria Smith, her great grandchild Orion Batts, and a 17-year-old Tonkinese Cat named Sheena.

Marie was born on in 1938 in South Boston, the only child of Margret M. Reilly and John F. Reilly as a 2lb. preemie. "Little Marie" defied her petite size with a feisty nature and an Irish verve. She was educated at South Boston High and recently celebrated a 65 reunion.

She was a parishioner and choir member at Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshfield, Ma. where she found serenity and purpose in her life. She practiced her faith by working at Quincy Hospital and fought for the rights of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities and was instrumental in passing legislation with Rep. Robert McCarthy for valid I.D.s for those she advocated for.

She combined her courageousness with humor. With a twinkle in her eyes, a beautiful smile, and hushed tones, she never failed in sharing wise words of wisdom, her life lessons, to those who needed such affirmations. She was joyful sharing life on the shore where, like in life, she swam strong, laughing and embracing each day to its fullest.

She will be dearly missed but her spirit will live on in every memory.

We would like to thank all of Marie's caregivers and hospice workers. Funeral arrangements are private but feel free to post your anecdotes and condolences here. We ask that you support Don't Forget Us, PET US, a non-profit sanctuary, in Dartmouth, Ma. one of her many causes, by visiting: https://dontforgetuspetus.org/
