Marilyn Cosgrove Browne passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 10th. Marilyn was born on July 3, 1937 in Medford, MA to the late Joseph Francis and the late Margaret (Redihan) Cosgrove. She was the oldest of three siblings and she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Cosgrove and her sister, Barbara (Cosgrove) Kane.
Marilyn excelled in her studies and upon graduation from Matignon High School entered the religious order of Saint Joseph where she completed her collegiate education and became a teacher. In 1972, she left the order but maintained her love for education and continued as an educator and advisor for the rest of her career retiring as a Guidance Counselor at Canton High School.
In 1980 Marilyn married the late Robert Browne of Dedham. They spent their time living between their homes in Dedham and on the Cape in Dennis where they enjoyed renovating their homes, spending time with both their families and riding bicycles with no destination in sight.
Marilyn had lived in many towns along the south shore, most recently residing in Duxbury with her nephew, David and his family. For the last few years, Marilyn has been a resident of Newfield House and she and the family were grateful for both the care and friendship she enjoyed while living in their community. She was a communicant of Holy Family parish. Marilyn adored her Irish heritage, all Boston sports, card games and leaving everyone decimated at Scrabble.
Marilyn's greatest gift and joy was the love of her family. She was fiercely protective and proud of her family. She was the beloved aunt to Michael and Christine Cosgrove of Plymouth and their three sons, Emmett, Liam and Cullin and their families, Joseph and Barbara (Cosgrove) Coleman of Plymouth and their daughters, Casey and Kelly, Joseph and Tina Cosgrove of Duxbury and their daughters Emma and Maggie, Joseph and Kelly (Cosgrove) LaFratta of Marshfield and their children Jake and Bella, Brian Cosgrove of Kingston, Dan and Kate Cosgrove of Duxbury and their children Sarah, Owen and Noah and David and Jasmine Cosgrove of Duxbury and their children Jack, Aidan and Bridget.
