Peeler, Martin Roy, of Marshfield, passed away on January 15, 2021 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Nancy (Tubman) Peeler; loving father of Bonnie Jeanne McCarthy and her husband Sean, Donna Marie Peeler, and Stephanie Lynn Stark and her husband Ryan, all of Marshfield; cherished grandfather of Courtney Marie, Sydney Rae, Olivia Rose, Aidan Matthew, and Sean Martin; dear brother of Marguerite DunLany of Hingham, Stephen McCauley and his wife Debra of Marshfield, and late brother in-law Dion DunLany.
Marty ("Butchie") Peeler was born in Boston to Marguerite A. McCauley and Roy W. Peeler. An impressive athlete and stellar student at Boston Latin for many years, Marty joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1963 straight out of Roslindale High School. He became an indelible part of the fabric of Marshfield's past, serving as bouncer at the famous Rexicana Ballroom in Fieldston. He bought a home on Fieldston beach, married the love of his life, Nancy Jane (Tubman) Peeler, and brought her home. They spent the rest of his life in that house where they raised 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren and filled the home and the sand at the end of the road with family and friends until the day he died.
Marty was a born salesman for most of his life, a photographer for the State of Massachusetts, and a maintenance worker for the Massachusetts Turnpike. His deep passion for music, unique fashion sense, and love of taking pictures of his family are qualities that will be burned into the memories of all who knew and loved him. Forever late to the party, but always the last to leave, Marty truly was the definition of the life of the party. His full body smile and twinkle in his eye could light up any room. If Marty was in view, you could be sure that a song was playing in the background. His almost "annoying" infatuation with middle names still invokes a smile.
Marty was loved so hard by all who knew him, but more importantly he loved even harder back. His Nancy Jane, Bonnie Jeanne, Donna Marie, Stephanie Lynn and countless others will never be whole without him.
Funeral services will be private.
