Mary E. (Robinson) Becker of Hingham passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022. Mary was born in 1934 in Methuen, Massachusetts and graduated from Braintree High School. She attended Wheaton College in Illinois where she met her husband Rodney ("Bud") Becker. Mary and Bud began their married life in Hawaii where Bud served in the U.S. Army. They eventually moved to Minneapolis where they raised their children, and later spent a few years living in France and Belgium.

Mary worked for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for 20 years, and after her retirement, began a new and rewarding career teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and citizenship to Somali refugees and other immigrants in Minneapolis. When she moved to Massachusetts, she taught ESL to staff members at the Linden Ponds senior living community where she lived.

Mary was an enthusiastic attendee of South Shore Baptist Church and loved reading, snow shoeing, walking on the beach, and beating her family at Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her sister Elizabeth Schloss of Long Island, and she is survived by her son Richard Becker of Northbrook, IL, her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Paul Atwater of Hingham, MA, her granddaughter and grandson-in-law Emily Atwater and Ethan Penner of Allston, MA, and her granddaughter Annie Atwater of Roslindale, MA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Linden Ponds Senior Living Community in Hingham. Burial will be private.
