Mary Teresa Dougherty passed peacefully on the evening of January 1, 2025 after her struggle with Alzheimer's. Mary was surrounded by her family.
Mary's compassion, energy, and laughter will live on in all who felt her love and friendship. Mary's playful sense of humor and generosity touched everyone who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved her dogs and traveling.
Mary was born on October 20, 1960 in Boston, MA to Thomas Gavin and Rita (Ryan) Gavin.
Mary graduated Norwell High school and began her career in financial services. Her career path brought her to The Bank of Boston, where she met her husband, Bob Dougherty. Mary and Bob were married in February 1997 and enjoyed 28 years of marriage. Mary and Bob settled in Marshfield, MA.
Mary's career continued at Harvard University Endowment where she was director of foreign investment operations. From Harvard University endowment Mary joined Convexity Capital Management as Director of Operations.
Mary is survived by her husband Bob and her son Michael Barrett and his wife Angela of Coventry, RI and her daughter Sheila Dougherty of Marshfield, MA. Mary also leaves her loving granddaughter Sophia Barrett of Coventry, RI.
Mary is survived by her brother Thomas Gavin and his wife Rosemary Gavin of Mashpee, MA. Her sister Sheila McLaughlin and her husband Bob McLaughlin of Lithia, FL. Her sister Maureen Andrea and husband Thomas Andrea of Marshfield, MA. Her brother Michael Gavin and his wife Roberta Gavin of Tolland, CT. Her sister Caitlin Day and her husband Sean Day of Kingston, MA and her brother Patrick Gavin of Kingston, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday January 7th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at MacDonald Funeral Home located at 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA. The funeral mass will be held at St. Christine Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:30am located at 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, MA.
