Mary M. McMillin, of Marshfield, passed away Sunday morning, October 9, 2016, after a long battle with lung disease. Mary was the mother of Jim Hunt and sister of Arthur J. McMillin, John J. McMillin and the late Roberta J. McGonagle. Mary was 67.
Mary was born in Boston, grew up in Humarock, and in 1974, with a goal of getting a college degree, took a job as a secretary at UMass/Boston. She had realized she could take classes part-time, for free. She soon found herself effectively running the history department and gaining the trust of everyone on campus, from workers in the physical plant to the most distinguished professors. Mary's dream arrived in 1987, when she graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Economics.
After completing her education, she moved to Marshfield, built connections within the real-estate profession, and focused on raising a family. Friends often remember Mary as the smartest one in the room, with the sharpest wit, and a constant source of energy and entertainment. Parties will never be the same.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
