Mary Christos (Tragkis) Menakos, age 92, passed peacefully at home on March 5, 2020. She was a long time resident of Scituate along with her immediate loving family of Loukas Contos, Christopher and Judy Contos, Stephen and Cara Contos, Evan Contos. Ellis and Laurie Menakos, and daughter Vassilia Contos. She is predeceased by her beloved Watertown family of five Tragakis brothers, Peter, James, John, Steve, and Harry. Mary was proud Grandmother of Nicole Contos, Adrienne & Jeremy Engholm, Eva Contos, Peter Bernstein, Alexandra & Sophia Contos, Loukas & Jillian Contos, Nikki Contos, Richard & Brittany Costa, Ashley Costa & PJ, Brandyn & Tara Martin, and Great Grandmother of Evelyn Engholm, Aurora & Adriana Martin, and Avah Salvucci

Mary led a very active life while able. She was President of the South Shore Hellenic Cultural Association of Cohasset for many years, whose main purpose was to familiarize local residents of basic Greek culture. She also taught Greek Folk Dancing in Cohasset and organized language classes and cooking classes for the financial benefit of the Greek Orthodox Church there. She was also a member of a traveling exhibition of ancient Greek Folk Dancing with an MIT Dance Group that performed throughout New England.

Mary attended Northeastern University in the evenings and was employed throughout the years, mostly in Boston, and she absolutely loved her coworkers and work at the District Attorney's office of Wm. Delahunt in Dedham.

Visiting hours on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. will conclude with a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m.at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
