Mary Ellen White, 84, of Duxbury MA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on July 10, 2022 after battling Alzheimer's disease for many years.
Mary was born and raised in Dorchester, where she attended Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston. Mary worked in Boston for several years as a secretary of a local radio station and for a ophthalmologist before marrying. Mary was happily married to her late husband Robert F. White for 41 years. She raised 5 children in Boston before moving to Duxbury in 1973. She was active in the Catholic Church and a constant volunteer for Catholic and other charities. She loved helping others and never missed an opportunity to cook, serve or deliver meals to those in need. She was a devoted mother and a popular lunch lady for the Duxbury School System.
Mary loved watching the Boston Red Sox and cheering on her team. She loved Duxbury Beach especially taking a walk enjoying the seaside.
Mary is predeceased by her parents Anna and James Moran and her sister Ann Dibari. Mary is survived by her brother Ronald Moran, her five children and spouses; Lisa Secondo and her partner Jim Shortall of Pittsburg NH, James and Karen White of Duxbury, Michael White and his partner Beth Sloan of Marshfield, David White and his partner Jennifer Tewksbury of Plymouth and Joseph and Terri White of Plymouth, and her seven grandchildren; Cody Secondo, Rachel White, Julia White, Jack White, George White, Andrew White and Samantha White and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a viewing and prayers at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by a service in celebration of Mary's life at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury following the service.
