Maryellen T. Blair, age 72, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, formerly of Dedham and Roslindale, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 16, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Warren A. Blair Jr. and Ellen T. (O’Brien) Blair. Maryellen is survived by her brother Warren A. Blair III and his wife, Catherine, of Marshfield, her brother Paul T. Blair and his wife, Maureen, also of Marshfield, and her sister-in-law, M. Kathleen Blair, wife of her late brother, Gerald F. Blair, of Walpole. Maryellen was also predeceased by her beloved niece, Carolyn E. Veneri (Blair), and is survived by Carolyn’s husband, Harry Veneri.

Maryellen was a cherished aunt to Jennifer C. Blair, Sarah C. Blair, Katie M. Blair, Gerald “Jay” F. Blair and his wife, Roseanne Currie, and Kathryn C. Walsh (Blair) and her husband, Michael Walsh. She was a devoted great-aunt to Allan E. Archibald IV, Isabella C. Archibald, Sophia B. Markella, Anthony M. Markella III, Vincent Veneri, and Bridget B. Walsh.

A graduate of Dedham High School, Maryellen was drawn to helping others. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (majoring in education) from Boston State College and then continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree (majoring in nursing) from Boston State College. Her caring nature led her to work as a social worker in New York City for many years. She found fulfillment in supporting others through life’s challenges with empathy and understanding.

Maryellen found great joy in the things she loved most. She could happily spend an entire day shopping and searching for the best bargains! She especially treasured her family trips to Cancun. She loved listening to her favorite CDs, particularly Madonna and Lady Gaga, and watching classic films on Turner Classic Movies. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, who were drawn to her loving nature. Maryellen also loved the beach and found happiness and peace whenever she was near the ocean. She cherished the time she spent at the Marshfield Senior Center, especially her Wednesday afternoons playing whist, and enjoying the company of the many dear friends she made there.

She delighted in being called “Emme” and lovingly encouraged her nieces and nephews, as well as the rest of her family, to address her by that special name. Maryellen often joked, “I’m a Blair—I like to eat,” and she never passed up the chance to enjoy her favorite candy or a Diet Coke (especially when free refills were available)! She was a very loving and loyal family member who always found the good in everyone she met. An incredibly generous sister and aunt, she never missed a Birthday or Christmas present. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning with visiting from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield.
