Matthew Joseph King of Marshfield passed away on August 14, 2024, suddenly at the age of 64.

Born in Weymouth to the late Leo and Faith King, Matt grew up in the "West End", a tight knit community of Scituate. He attended Scituate High School where he excelled in both academics and wrestling. After high school he attended UMass Amherst where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and met his future wife, Joanne. Soon after they moved to Marshfield where they raised their two children Kevin and Sara.

Matt was eternally devoted to his children and cherished the time he spent with them. He was passionate about antiques, wrestling and music. He truly loved nature and all animals, especially his dogs, Tory and Niko. He was a volunteer wrestling coach for Scituate High School for over a decade. He was also the Marshfield youth wrestling coach for many years. He significantly impacted countless lives during his time as a coach.

Matt was well known and respected in the antiques world as well. His peers remember him as a knowledgeable historian who loved to share his knowledge with the community. He was cared about by so many.  To know Matt was to love Matt.

He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Faith King and his sister Judy King. He is survived by his son Kevin King and daughter Sara King, his two sisters Elizabeth King Hatch and Mary King, and many other beloved family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.
